A Kreml közleménye szerint a két vezető Lukasenkának az Angela Merkel ügyvezető német kancellárral hétfőn lezajlott, 50 perces telefonbeszélgetésén elhangzottak figyelembevételével folytatott eszmecserét. Az orosz és a fehérorosz elnök egyeztetéséről további részleteket Moszkva nem közölt, és Minszk is csak annyit mondott, hogy a felek a migrációs válság mellett az orosz határok közelében tartott, nem tervezett ukrán-amerikai hadgyakorlatól is beszéltek.

Korábban Putyin is tárgyalt Merkellel, hétfőn pedig Emmanuel Macron francia elnökkel folytatott eszmecserét.

Szergej Lavrov orosz külügyminiszter kedden azzal vádolta az Európai Unió vezetését, hogy kettős mércét alkalmaz a fehérorosz-lengyel határon kialakult helyzet megítélésében, és ezzel nehéz helyzetbe hozza önmagát. Kifogásolta, hogy Lengyelország könnygázt és vízágyúkat vetett be a menekültek ellen. Rámutatott, hogy a lengyel hatóságok még a legjelentősebb nyugati tömegtájékoztatási eszközöket és az olyan európai szakintézmények megfigyelőit sem engedik be a határövezetbe a maguk oldalán, mint a Frontex és az Europol. Nehezményezte, hogy az orosz állami finanszírozású RT France tévécsatorna stábját őrizetbe vették és megbírságolták.

Az orosz diplomácia irányítója ismételten kifejezte Oroszország készségét arra, hogy hozzájáruljon a válság megoldásához. Ennek fő feltételeként a Brüsszel és Minszk közötti közvetlen párbeszédet nevezte meg.

Lavrov “hazugnak” minősítette és nem kívánta kommentálni Gitanas Nauseda litván külügyminiszternek azt az állítását, miszerint Oroszországnak köze van a válság kialakulásához. Nauseda hétfőn azt hangoztatta, hogy egyes közel-keleti menekültek Moszkván keresztül jutottak el a Fehéroroszország és az EU közötti határra.
