Baráti viszonyban volt azokkal is, akik a koncertterem elleni támadással egy időben Párizs belvárosában hat kávéház, bár és étterem teraszán végeztek 39 emberrel, és hamis papírokat és logisztikai hátteret biztosított nekik.

A 2015-ös franciaországi merényletsorozat szálai kezdettől fogva Bari felé vezettek: a novemberi merényletsorozatot végrehajtó terrorkommandó egyetlen túlélőjéről, a Párizsban fogva tartott Salah Abdeslamról kiderült, hogy több alkalommal mozgott az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet uralta szíriai harcterek és Európa között Olaszországot használva folyosóként, és az első állomása mindig Bari volt, ahol az Iszlám Állam tagjai könnyűszerrel jutottak hamis dokumentumokhoz, szálláshoz és pénzhez a továbbutazáshoz.

Az algériai férfit 2015 júliusában, vagyis a novemberi merényletek előtt néhány hónappal őrizetbe vették a Párizs és Milánó közötti vonaton hamis dokumentumok birtoklása miatt. A terrortámadás után, 2015 novemberében, Athmane Touami egyik fivérének párizsi lakásában hamis dokumentumokat, valamint mobiltelefonokat, az Iszlám Állammal kapcsolatos felvételeket foglaltak le.

A párizsi merényleteket követően Touaminak nyoma veszett, majd 2019-ben Bari migránstáborában tartóztatták le.
