A beszédnek a Hszinhua kínai állami hírügynökség által kiadott leiratából kiderül, hogy Hszi azt hangsúlyozta: a nemzetközi szabályokat az ENSZ 193 tagjának közösen kellene kialakítania, és azokat kivétel nélkül mindenkinek be kellene tartania. “Egyetlen civilizáció sem felsőbbrendű, vagy jobb egy másiknál” – húzta alá, hozzátéve, hogy egy ország haladási irányát annak alapján kellene megítélni, hogy mennyire képes jólétet és az emberek életminőségének javulását biztosítani. Ennek kapcsán példaként említette Kína erőfeszítéseit a szegénység felszámolására, valamint hozzájárulását az ENSZ költségvetéséhez és a békefenntartáshoz.

A kínai elnök hangsúlyozta továbbá: Peking ellenzi a hegemónia és a hatalmi politika minden formáját. A beszéd kapcsán az SCMP rámutatott: Peking és Washington az utóbbi időben kiélezett diplomáciai csörtéket folytat az ENSZ különböző platformjain a befolyásért folytatott versengésben.

Az amerikai külügyminisztérium egyik, vasárnap kiadott közleményében tudatta, hogy magas rangú amerikai diplomaták tárgyalásokat folytattak a tajvani külügyminisztérium képviselőivel Tajvan az ENSZ-ben és más, nemzetközi fórumokon történő részvételének bővítéséről.

Kína saját területe részeként tekint az egyébként 1949 óta saját kormányzattal rendelkező Tajvanra. Peking és Tajpej között a viszony több éves közeledés után ismét fagyossá vált azt követően, hogy a Caj Jing-ven tajvani elnök vezette kormányzat elutasította azt az 1992-ben elfogadott, az “egy Kína” elvét magában foglaló egyezményt, amelyet Peking a tárgyalások alapfeltételeként kezel. A kínai kormányzat azóta diplomáciai eszközökkel igyekszik korlátozni Tajvan mozgásterét a nemzetközi színtéren. A sziget mostanra elvesztette korábbi, megfigyelői státusát az olyan, ENSZ-hez kapcsolódó szervezetekben, mint az Egészségügyi Világszervezet közgyűlése.

Peking emellett gazdasági nyomást alkalmaz Tajvannal szemben, és rendszeres hadgyakorlatokat tart a sziget közvetlen közelében. Október első négy napján a kínai légierő összesen 149 harci gépe hatolt a tajvani légtérbe, naponta megdöntve az egyszerre a sziget légvédelmi zónájába repülő kínai harci gépek rekordját. Az akciók kezdete egybeesett a Kínai Népköztársaság 1949-es megalakulásának október 1-ére eső évfordulójával. Peking részéről a feszültségek közelmúltbeli kiéleződését részben a tajvani politikusok külföldi erőkkel folytatott “összejátszásának” tulajdonították.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed an additional memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a loitering munitions programme. IAI is a global leader in developing loitering munition systems. The new concept weapon system technology maximizes the effectiveness of SEAD & DEAD missions, can perform long-endurance reconnaissance missions, and can strike a target immediately when necessary. IAI’s loitering munitions, including IAI’s HARPY NGW and HAROP loitering missile, are combat proven in many countries around the world.

Europe

The UK’s Royal Navy has successfully tested a new missile designed to protect warships from attacks by swarms of small boats. According to the service, HMS Defender’s Wildcat helicopter of 815 Naval Air Squadron fired the Martlet lightweight missile at an inflatable target in the sea – known in the navy as the big red tomato – during operations in the Pacific Ocean with the UK Carrier Strike Group.

Italy’s Leonardo announced it has signed a framework agreement with the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the supply of up to 107,929 daylight optics for use on both current and new German Army assault rifles. According the company, the most important design change is the ability to operate the switching mechanism from 1x to 4x magnification on both sides of the new sight for assault rifles, while retaining the compact design and robustness of the optic.
