Spanyolország kiadja az Egyesült Államoknak Hugo Armando Carvajalt, a venezuelai hírszerzés volt katonai vezetőjét, akit egyebek mellett kábítószer-kereskedelemmel vádolnak az amerikai hatóságok – közölte a döntést a központi büntetőbíróság Madridban.

A 61 éves férfi 2019 márciusában érkezett Spanyolországba hamis útlevéllel. Hazájából azután menekült el, hogy nyilvánosan elismerte Venezuela ideiglenes elnökeként Juan Guaidó ellenzéki vezetőt, szemben Nicolás Maduro elnökkel, és ugyanerre biztatta katonatársait is. Az egykori tábornok 2004 és 2011 között vezette Venezuela katonai hírszerzését. 2008-ban az Egyesült Államokban megvádolták, hogy együttműködött a Kolumbiai Forradalmi Fegyveres Erők (FARC) gerilláival, és “kokainnal akarták elárasztani” az észak-amerikai országot.

The European Parliament on Friday launched a lawsuit against the European Commission at the bloc's top court for failing to use a 'rule-of-law conditionality mechanism' on withholding EU funds for backsliders such as Hungary and Poland. A cargo ship with some 382 Afghan refugees arrived in Greece on Sunday following a four-day standoff with Turkey.
