Le Bénin a dévoilé ce dimanche 21 septembre 2025 sa nouvelle identité visuelle, marquant une étape clé dans la valorisation de son image sur la scène internationale.

Pensée comme un pont entre héritage et modernité, la nouvelle identité visuelle du Bénin reflète une nation « fière de ses racines et résolument ouverte sur le monde », selon M. Sindé Chékété, Directeur général de l'Agence Bénin Tourisme.

Le logo s'inspire de symboles emblématiques du pays. Les Amazones, anciennes guerrières du Danxomè, incarnent courage et résilience. Le héros Bio Guera rappelle patriotisme et détermination. Le masque Guèlèdé, inscrit au patrimoine immatériel de l'UNESCO, célèbre la féminité et l'ingéniosité artistique. Les Egungun, liés au culte vodun, expriment le lien entre vivants et ancêtres. Les Tata Somba, habitats fortifiés du nord, traduisent protection et harmonie avec la nature.

Les couleurs reprennent celles du drapeau (vert, jaune et rouge), auxquelles s'ajoutent le bleu de la mer et le jaune ocre des terres. Elles symbolisent vitalité des paysages, diversité culturelle et ambition d'innovation.

« Cette identité visuelle incarne la richesse d'un pays qui conjugue héritage, créativité et ambition », souligne M. Chékété. Elle sera utilisée dans les grandes campagnes de communication, les événements internationaux et la promotion touristique.

L'ouvrage ornemental qu'on appelait « la Porte d'entrée » de la ville de Ouidah a été démoli.

Situé à Vassého, le monument signalant l'entrée de la ville de Ouidah a été démoli dans la semaine du 15 septembre 2025.

Il représentait pour beaucoup une sorte de porte de bienvenue, un repère visuel. Pourquoi a-t-elle été démolie ? Était-ce une décision municipale, un projet urbain ? Les citoyens se demandent si le monument va-t-il être remplacé ? Pour l'heure, aucun communiqué officiel n'a été publié pour donner une explication claire.

Le 2e vice-président du Conseil économique et social (CES), Emmanuel Golou, repose dans sa dernière demeure depuis ce samedi 20 septembre 2025 à Golohoué, une localité de l'arrondissement de Lanta, dans la commune de Klouékanmey.

Présidents d'institutions, membres de gouvernement et autorités à divers niveaux se sont mobilisés aux côtés de la famille, pour rendre un vibrant hommage à l'ex président du Parti social –démocrate (PSD).
Le président du CES, Conrad Gbaguidi, à travers une publication a salué la mémoire d'un homme dont la fidélité, la sagesse et l'engagement resteront à jamais gravés dans les cœurs. « Emmanuel Golou nous quitte physiquement, mais il demeure par son œuvre, son intégrité et son amour indéfectible pour la Nation », a-t-il écrit.

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, IPI held its twentieth annual Ministerial Working Dinner on the Middle East in its Trygve Lie Center for Peace, Security, and Development. The dinner drew the participation of foreign ministers and other high-level representatives.

The event was chaired by IPI President Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein and co-hosted by Qatar and the European Union, represented respectively by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, and Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

Participants had a frank discussion, off the record, on regional issues held under the Chatham House Rule.

Dans un contexte d'incertitude et de tensions internes, l'opposition béninoise, Les Démocrates notamment, peuvent faire bloc autour de l'ancien commissaire de la CEDEAO, Daniel EDAH, candidat en 2016, pour les élections présidentielles très attendues de 2026 au Bénin.

Plusieurs jours après la désignation de Romuald Wadagni pour porter la candidature de la mouvance présidentielle, l'opposition béninoise, Les Démocrates, peinent à désigner un candidat qui fasse l'unanimité. Pour surmonter cette difficulté, le choix d'un candidat neutre et rassembleur s'impose. Et Daniel EDAH, ex commissaire de la CEDEAO, et candidat à l'élection présidentielle de 2016 au Bénin, incarne mieux ce profile que plusieurs autres acteurs politiques tels que Nourou-Dine Saka Saley, Nourénou Atchadé ou encore, Éric Houndété.
Alors que beaucoup hésitent à se prononcer, Daniel EDAH est le premier à annoncer sa candidature à l'élection présidentielle de 2026. Il est le seul à avoir structuré son programme et occupe le terrain médiatique depuis plusieurs mois voire des années, face à des rivaux encore indécis et hésitants.
Au regard des nouvelles lois électorales au Bénin qui exigent des parrainages d'élus majoritairement pro-Talon, un opposant radical a peu de chances d'être retenu. Daniel EDAH, plus modéré et indépendant, peut sembler moins menaçant que les ténors des Démocrates. Ce qui augmentant ses chances d'être accepté dans la course. Très fédérateur, il attire aussi des micro-partis, mouvements citoyens et la diaspora. Des atouts importants qui renforcent sa légitimité comme candidat de compromis.
