US-Präsident Donald Trump hat die Abkehr von der Klimaschutzpolitik seines Vorgängers Barack Obama eingeleitet. Nicht nur in den USA warnen Experten davor, den Rückwärtsgang einzulegen.

Allgemeines : Die britische Regierung hat heute (29.3.) offiziell den Austritt aus der Europäischen Union beantragt. Das Vereinigte Königreich und die EU haben nun zwei Jahre Zeit, um ein Abkommen über die Einzelheiten des Austritts auszuhandeln. Außerdem werden sie damit beginnen müssen, ihre künftigen Handelsbeziehungen zu definieren, wobei dieser Prozess voraussichtlich entscheidend länger dauern wird. Allgemeines : "Auch wenn wir aus der Europäischen Union austreten, verlassen wir Europa nicht", sagte der Londoner Bürgermeister Sadiq Khan bei seinem Besuch im EU-Parlament am Dienstag (28.3.). "Ob es sich nun um Themen wie Sicherheit, Verteidigung, Finanzen oder Kultur handelt, wir werden weiterhin Teil der europäischen Familie sein." Sadiq Khan traf EU-Parlamentspräsident Antonio Tajani, um mit ihm unter anderem über Sicherheitsfragen und den Brexit zu diskutieren.

Der Streit um die Umverteilung von Flüchtlingen ist neu entflammt.

The East and South China Sea is a strategic maritime link and a major trade route with rich fishing grounds and oil and gas reserves. Mounting conflicts between neighbouring countries (in particular China, the Philippines and Vietnam) have resulted in growing security tension and militarisation of the region. The hearing will therefore address security implications of the territorial disputes for global and European security, and the role the EU could play in easing tensions in the region.

The workshop will focus on the issues of strengthening compliance with the Council common position governing control of exports of military technology and equipment, compliance with reporting obligations, increasing transparency and public scrutiny, and the development of the EU's institutional framework.

Allgemeines : Wenige Tage nach dem Terroranschlag in London debattierte der Innenausschuss mit den Innenministern Deutschlands und Frankreichs, Thomas de Maizière und Matthias Fekl, am Montag (27.3.) über die aktuelle Sicherheitslage in Europa. Beide Minister hoben hervor, wie wichtig es sei, die EU-Außengrenzen zu schützen, Informationen zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten besser zu teilen und den neuen Herausforderungen des Terrorismus und der Radikalisierung wirksam zu begegnen.

Am Mittwoch will die Regierung in London das Austrittsverfahren aus der EU auslösen.

Plans to make it easier to move money around within the EU’s long-run budget, to help tackle urgent challenges such as the migration crisis, strengthening security, boosting growth and creating jobs, were backed by the Budgets Committee on Monday. Parliament has long fought for greater flexibility within the Multi-annual Financial Framework (MFF), which would apply for the remainder of the 2014-2020 MFF.

Der Rat hat am 3. März 2017 den Beschluss (GASP) 2017/381 des Rates [1] erlassen. Mit diesem Ratsbeschluss werden die geltenden restriktiven Maßnahmen bis zum 6. März 2018 verlängert. Bei den betreffenden Maßnahmen handelt es sich um ein Einfrieren von Vermögenswerten und ein Verbot der Bereitstellung von Geldern in Bezug auf 15 Personen, die als verantwortlich für die rechtswidrige Verwendung staatlicher Gelder der Ukraine vor 2014 betrachtet werden.

Die Bewerberländer Montenegro* und Albanien*, die dem Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum angehörenden EFTA-Länder Liechtenstein und Norwegen sowie die Ukraine und die Republik Moldau schließen sich diesem Ratsbeschluss an.

Sie werden dafür Sorge tragen, dass ihre nationale Politik mit diesem Ratsbeschluss in Einklang steht.

Die Europäische Union nimmt diese Zusicherung mit Genugtuung zur Kenntnis.
