Súlyosabban büntetik a jövőben az állatok megmérgezését, szigorúbban lépnek fel a szaporítók ellen, és az állatviadalokon való részvétel is bűncselekménynek számít, miután az Országgyűlés kedden elfogadta az állatok védelme érdekében szükséges egyes büntetőjogi tárgyú törvények módosítását.

Az előterjesztést 168 igen szavazattal, egyhangúlag fogadta el a parlament. A jogszabály a büntető törvénykönyv jelenlegi szabályozásához képest bővíti a természetkárosítás, az állatkínzás és a tiltott állatviadal szervezésének minősített eseteit. A jövőben szigorúbban lehet fellépni többek között a különös visszaesőkkel, a haszonszerzési céllal működtetett szaporítótelepekkel, illetve azokkal szemben, akiket korábban már az állatok tartásával összefüggő tevékenységtől eltiltottak.

Ezentúl már a méreg vagy csalétek kihelyezésének előkészülete is büntetendő. Bővült az állatkínzás minősített eseteinek köre a nagy nyilvánosság előtti elkövetéssel, az állattartástól való eltiltás alatti állatkínzással, valamint állatkínzás elkövetésével tiltott állatviadal szervezését vagy állatkínzást követő két éven belül.

Magasabb büntetési tétel, egytől öt évig terjedő szabadságvesztés szabható ki a méreg alkalmazásával vagy az élet kioltására alkalmas csalétek kihelyezésével több állat pusztulását okozó, illetve a különös visszaesőként történő állatkínzás elkövetéskor.

Az állatkínzás minősített esete lett a szaporítás, amelyet szintén egytől öt évig terjedő szabadságvesztéssel büntetnek. Az állatviadalok szervezői mellett mostantól a résztvevőket is büntetik, vétség miatt két évig terjedő szabadságvesztéssel. Rögzítették: állat esetében az elkobzás végrehajtásának általános lépéseit – különösen a megsemmisítést – nem kell elvégezni.

A törvény legtöbb rendelkezése január 1-jén lép hatályba.
