A diplomatát azért hívták meg a bizottsági ülésre, hogy magyarázatot adjon az amerikai biolaboratóriumok ukrajnai tevékenységéről. A nagykövetség sajtószolgálata azt írta: az amerikai fél korábban közölte, hogy elkötelezett a biológiai és toxinfegyverekről szóló egyezményben foglaltak betartása mellett, és visszautasította az ilyen típusú fegyverek előállításával kapcsolatos vádakat is. A diplomáciai misszió szerint az Oroszországgal folytatott konzultációs folyamat ebben a kérdésben lezárult, nincs mit hozzáfűzni.

Tracy hétfőn közölte, hogy a moszkva lefortovói börtönben meglátogatta Evan Gershkovichot, a The Wall Street Journal kémkedés vádjával őrizetbe vett újságíróját. A misszióvezető rámutatott: ez volt az első alkalom, hogy amerikai diplomaták bejutottak a gyanúsítotthoz több mint két héttel ezelőtti „jogtalan őrizetbe vétele” óta. Tracy ismételten Gershkovich azonnali szabadon bocsátását sürgette.

Gershkovichot március 29-én vették őrizetbe Jekatyerinburgban. Az orosz Szövetségi Biztonsági Szolgálat (FSZB) szerint az újságíró az amerikai hatóságok megbízásából államtitkokat gyűjtött egy orosz hadiipari vállalatról. Az orosz külügyminisztérium korábban közölte, hogy az újságíró esetleges kicserélésének kérdését csak bírósági döntés után lehet fontolóra venni.

Terroristavezér szíriai elfogásáról számolt be az FSZB
Elfogták Szíriában a tádzsik állampolgárságú T.M. Nazarovot, aki az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet egyik vezetőjeként terrortámadások végrehajtását tervezte a moszkvai régióban és Novoszibirszkben – közölte az orosz Szövetségi Biztonsági Szolgálat (FSZB). A tájékoztatás szerint a 34 éves terrorista egy tádzsik állampolgárokból toborzott sejtet hozott létre, amely házilag előállított robbanóeszközökkel népes helyeken, egyebek között vasúti létesítmények ellen tervezett merényleteket elkövetni. Nazarovot, akit Szíriában azonosítottak és fogtak el az FSZB „nemzetközi partnerei”, Moszkvába szállították és elítélték, az általa alapított csoportot pedig felszámolták. Az FSZB szerint Nazarovot életfogytiglani szabadságvesztésre és másfél millió rubel (jelenlegi árfolyamon 6,2 millió forintot meghaladó) bírságra ítélték különböző bűncselekmények – köztük terrorista tevékenység szervezése és benne való részvétel, törvénybe ütköző fegyver- és robbanóanyagbirtoklás – 21 rendbeli elkövetésének címén.
