ET: többet kell tenni a gyermekek szexuális erőszakkal szembeni védelméért

Az Európa Tanács (ET) tagállamainak többet kell tenniük a gyermekek szexuális erőszakkal szembeni védelméért – jelentette ki Rik Daems, az Európa Tanács Parlamenti Közgyűlésének (PACE) elnöke a gyermekek szexuális visszaélésekkel szembeni védelmének európai napja alkalmából kiadott nyilatkozatában.

A strasbourgi székhelyű, 47 tagot tömörítő Európa Tanács Parlamenti Közgyűlésének elnöke felszólította a tagországok parlamentjeit: hívják fel a figyelmet a gyermekek elleni szexuális visszaélések drámai és tartós következményeire. Tegyenek az ellen, hogy a gyermekek elleni visszaélések ne számítsanak tabunak, nyilvános megtárgyalásukkal ugyanis – mint mondta – meg lehet előzni e cselekedeteket.

“Rajtunk múlik annak biztosítása, hogy a gyermekek szabadon beszámolhassanak az őket ért visszaélésekről, hogy a társadalom egésze meghallja a hangjukat, hogy az ilyen ügyek eljussanak a rendőrséghez és az igazságszolgáltatáshoz, valamint az is, hogy segítsük a sérelmek feldolgozását” – fogalmazott.

Daems felszólította a tagállamok parlamentjeit, hogy erősítsék tovább a gyermekek szexuális zaklatással szembeni védelmét, az erre vonatkozó nemzeti politikákat és intézkedéseket.

Hangoztatta: noha az Európa Tanács mind a 47 tagállama ratifikálta a gyermekek védelmére 2007-ben elfogadott Lanzarote-i Egyezményt, még sok a tennivaló annak biztosítására, hogy a résztvevő országok teljes körűen tiszteletben tartsák kötelezettségvállalásaikat, és hogy a gyermekek szexuális erőszakkal szembeni védelme valóban biztosított legyen. Az Európa Tanács Parlamenti Közgyűlése elkötelezett e törekvés támogatása mellett – tette hozzá az a közgyűlés elnöke.
