Remarks by Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe following the Eurogroup meeting of 5 December in Brussels.

The Eurogroup welcomed Greece's progress with specific reform steps. The implementation of specific reform commitments as well as the release of the final tranche of policy-contingent debt-measures, as agreed today, marks the end of the regular Eurogroup discussions on policy-contingent debt measures of Greece.

Today, the Eurogroup re-elected Paschal Donohoe as Eurogroup President.

The Eurogroup welcomes the individual draft budgetary plans which are key to the coordination of fiscal policy in the euro area. The Eurogroup highlights that the euro area economy continued its strong post-pandemic recovery in 2022, thanks to the swift policy action at national, EU and euro area level, and in spite of the economic impact of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

President Charles Michel and Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob met in Ljubljana and held a joint press conference focusing on Russia’s war on Ukraine, energy and Western Balkans.

The Council adopted today a decision prolonging the restrictive measures against serious human rights violations and abuses for a further year, until 8 December 2023.

The Council adopted conclusions on the "Ongoing development of inland waterway transport (NAIADES III)".

Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T): Council adopts its position to ensure sustainable connectivity in Europe.

Az Egyesült Államok és Izrael partnersége erősebb mint valaha, és ezen nem változtatnak az amerikai adminisztráció és a leendő új izraeli kormány közötti erős véleménykülönbségek Palesztina és Irán tekintetében – hangsúlyozta Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter.

A külügyminiszter kijelentette, hogy “az Egyesült Államok elszánt barátként marad meg Izrael mellett, akkor is, ha olyan célokat követ, amelyeket Benjamin Netanjahu megválasztott izraeli miniszterelnök ellenez”. Ide sorolta az izraeli-palesztin konfliktust illetően a kétállami megoldást, valamint a 2015-ös iráni atomalku felélesztését.

A tárcavezető egyben figyelmeztette a leendő izraeli kormány vezetőjét, hogy az Egyesült Államok szembe fog helyezkedni minden olyan politikai lépéssel, amely kiszorítaná a palesztinokat, vagy még jobban megnehezítené a kétállami megoldás kivitelezését és, ami “végzetes lehet Izrael hosszú távú biztonságára és jövőjére, mint demokratikus zsidó állam”. Blinken mindenek előtt a telepespolitika kiterjesztésére, illetve “Ciszjordánia annexiója irányába tett lépésekre” utalt.

Hangsúlyozta, hogy Joe Biden amerikai elnök kormányzata az új izraeli kormányt a politikája, nem pedig “az egyes személyek” alapján fogja megítélni. Blinken ezzel két olyan kijelölt miniszterre utalt, akivel kapcsolatban az Egyesült Államok korábban kifejezte aggályait, hogy határozottan palesztin- és arabellenes nézeteket hangoztattak.

APKWS guidance kits have been successfully used by BAE Systems to guide 70mm rockets against Class-2 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that weigh approximately 25-50 pounds and are capable of traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Fast-moving drones were destroyed during the demonstration in Southern Arizona using APKWS-guided rockets.

The United States on Friday unveiled the B-21 Raider, a high-tech stealth bomber that can carry nuclear and conventional weapons and is designed to be able to fly without a crew on board. The slickly choreographed ceremony at B-21 manufacturer Northrop Grumman’s facility in Palmdale, California opened with the US national anthem as older bombers roared over a crowd that included top US officials.

Turkey’s indigenous vertical launch system (VLS) dubbed MIDLAS has carried out its first successful live firing of a HISAR missile. The MIDLAS is designed to be installed on the Istanbul-class frigate. It is a below-deck vertical launch launcher system.

Europe

Pelegrin Limited has delivered two Pelegrin Tarragon light trainers at ?daži airfield to the Latvian Air Force on December 2. The indigenous ultralight aircraft will be used by military to train pilots and to maintain flying qualifications. The tandem-seat aircraft is designed to meet Fédération Aéronautique Internationale microlight rules.

Asia-Pacific

Canadian engineering firm Vard Marine has been awarded a contract to design Bangladesh Navy’s new landing craft tank (LCT). The ship design will be based on the company’s 7 507 landing craft series and meet wartime and peacetime requirements. Additionally, the LCT will be suitable for amphibious operations, including transporting military personnel, tanks, equipment, and supplies in Bangladesh’s coastal areas.
