Nyomást gyakoroltak rá annak érdekében, hogy tartsa vissza, illetve kicsinyítse a 2020-as amerikai elnökválasztásra irányuló orosz befolyásolásról szóló információkat – állítja az amerikai képviselőházhoz kedden benyújtott panaszában Brian Murphy, a belbiztonsági minisztérium hírszerzésért felelős volt államtitkár-helyettese.

A panaszt a képviselőház hírszerzési bizottsága szerdán hozta nyilvánosságra, és bejelentette, hogy Murphyt a hónap végén meghallgatásra beidézik. A volt tisztségviselő azt is állította, hogy nem akart eleget tenni felettesei kérésének, ezért törvénytelenül elmozdították az állásából.

Murphy mindezért az előző belbiztonsági minisztert, Kirstjen Nielsent, a jelenlegi ügyvezető minisztert, Chad Wolfot és helyettesét, Ken Cuccinellit tette felelőssé. Állítása szerint 2018 márciusa és 2020 augusztusa között az említettek “több alkalommal visszaéltek hatalmukkal, megpróbáltak cenzúrázni hírszerzési elemzéseket, és nem megfelelő módon kezelték a befolyásolásra és az amerikai érdekek aláásására irányuló orosz erőfeszítésekre vonatkozó hírszerzési programot”.

A panasztevő azt is állította, hogy Wold idén májusban arra kérte őt, “hagyja abba az orosz beavatkozásról szóló fenyegetések jelentéseit, helyettük a Kína és az Irán felől érkező beavatkozási kísérletekre összpontosítson”. Murphy szerint e kérés közvetlenül Robert O’Brien nemzetbiztonsági tanácsadótól érkezett. Miután minderre nem volt hajlandó, nem vehetett részt többé a fontos megbeszéléseken és júliusban elmozdították a beosztásából.

Murphy azt is írta, hogy felettesei befolyásolni akarták őt a fehér felsőbbrendűséget hirdetőkre és a migránsokra vonatkozó információk és jelentések összeállításában is. A Fehér Ház és a belbiztonsági minisztérium már szerda este cáfolta a sajtóban is megjelenő állításokat.

A Fehér Ház szóvivője, Sarah Matthews közleményében leszögezte: a nemzetbiztonsági tanácsadó “soha nem is gondolt arra, hogy megszabja, a hírszerzés milyen fenyegetésekre összpontosítsa a figyelmét, legyen szó akár a választások sérthetetlenségéről, akár más ügyekről. Minden ezzel ellentétes állítás egy elégedetlen tisztviselő részéről – akivel O’Brien soha nem találkozott – nem más, mint hamis vagy lejárató”.

Hasonló értelmű nyilatkozatot adott ki a belbiztonsági tárca szóvivője, Alexei Woltornist: “Határozottan cáfoljuk, hogy Murphy úr állításai szemernyi igazságot is tartalmaznának”.
