Unterausschuss für Sicherheit und Verteidigung (SEDE) - Europäisches Parlament

On Monday 15 December, SEDE Members will vote on the 3 files of the Defence Omnibus package, with the Members of the ENVI, ITRE and IMCO Committees. This is a critical vote because the Defence Omnibus package should lead to the speeding-up of procurement, strengthening our defence industry, and creating the conditions to bring capabilities to our armed forces much faster.
The votes will then be followed by an in camera discussion on "The persistent threat of hybrid war - recent Belarusian combined attacks against Lithuania".

The following extraordinary SEDE meetings will take place:

• Thursday, 11 December 2025 from 12:00 - 13:00 in Brussels;
• Monday, 15 December 2025 from 19:45 - 22:30 in Strasbourg,
  including SEDE/ENVI/ITRE Committees meeting from 19:45 - 20:00 and SEDE/IMCO Committees meeting from 20:00 - 20:30.

The next ordinary meeting of the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 15 January 2026 from 9.00 - 12.30 a in Brussels (room SPINELLI 5G3).

On 3 and 4 December, SEDE will host the first-ever Inter-Parliamentary Committee Meeting with the Defence Committees of all National Parliaments of EU Member States plus the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This unprecedented gathering represents a significant step in strengthening the Union’s democratic oversight of security and defence as well as a show of solidarity with Ukraine at a critical moment in the future of European security.

High-level speakers include Commissioner Andrius KUBILIUS, Commissioner for Defence and Space, Admiral Pierre VANDIER, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation, NATO's Assistant Secretary General Boris RUGE and the EEAS Deputy Secretary General Charles FRIES.
