In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.
Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions, as well as matters in the field of human rights and democracy. The meetings allow for remote participation in a virtual environment.
The next meeting of the Subcommittee on Human Rights will take place on Wednesday 27 October, from 09.00 - 12.00 and from 13.45-15.45 and on Thursday 28 October, from 09.00 - 12.00 (with remote participation via Spinelli 3G3).
The committees on foreign affairs and development will meet again on 14 October to narrow the list of nominees to a three-candidate shortlist. The winning 2021 laureate will be announced on 21 October by the Parliament's Conference of Presidents (President and political groups' leaders). The Prize will be presented to the winner at an awards ceremony during the December plenary meeting, on 15 December.
