Az emberi jogok helyzete az egész világban romlik, az Európai Unió elfogadhatatlannak tartja az emberi jogok egyetemességének egyre gyakoribb megkérdőjelezését egyre több országban – jelentette ki Didier Reynders.

Az emberi jogok és a demokrácia helyzetéről, valamint az Európai Unió ezzel kapcsolatos politikájáról szóló 2022-es éves jelentéséről tartott EP-vitán Reynders, az Európai Bizottság igazságügyért felelős tagja hangsúlyozta, hogy az emberi jogok biztosítása nem választás kérdése, ezek a jogok az emberi méltóság alapját képezik.

Kijelentette: az EU elítéli az emberi jogi jogsértéseket, elkövetőivel szemben szankciókat vezet be. Támogatja a hágai központú Nemzetközi Büntetőbíróságot (ICC), rendkívüli finanszírozást nyújt az Ukrajnában Oroszország által elkövetett háborús bűnök elkövetőinek felelősségre vonására, valamint minden eszközt felhasznál arra, hogy védje és támogassa az emberi jogok és a demokrácia védelmezőit szerte a világban.

Elmondta, hogy az Európai Bizottság tavaly jogszabály elfogadását javasolta a kényszermunkával készült termékek kitiltásáról az unió piacáról, a nők és a lányok védelme pedig továbbra is a brüsszeli testület intézkedéseinek középpontjában szerepel. Az Európai Bizottság el kívánja érni, hogy 2023-ban megfordítsa az emberi jogok romlásának globális folyamatait – tette hozzá az igazságügyi biztos.

Putyin felmondaná a terrorizmus elleni és az emberi jogokra vonatkozó egyezményeket
Törvényjavaslatban kezdeményezte kedden Vlagyimir Putyin elnök az orosz parlament alsóházánál az Oroszország és az Európa Tanács (ET) közötti nemzetközi megállapodások, köztük az ET alapokmánya, valamint a terrorizmus visszaszorításáról és az emberi jogok védelméről szóló európai egyezmények felmondását. Az törvényjavaslat szerint az orosz ET-tagság 2022. március 16-i megszűnésével összefüggésben Oroszország vonatkozásában hatályát veszti az Európa Tanács 1949. május 5-i alapokmánya, az emberi jogok és alapvető szabadságok védelméről szóló 1950. november 4-i egyezmény és a terrorizmus elleni küzdelemről szóló 1977. január 27-i európai egyezmény is. Az elnöki kezdeményezés összesen 21 dokumentum felmondását javasolja. Közéjük tartozik a helyi önkormányzatok 1985. október 15-i európai chartája és az 1996. május 3-i (felülvizsgált) európai szociális charta is. Megszűnik a tervek szerint több jegyzőkönyv oroszországi hatálya is.
