A The Brussels Times hírportál tudósítása szerint a király egyértelmű támogatásáról biztosította Ukrajnát, és összetartásra, szolidaritásra szólított fel a belga népet “a nehéz idők átvészelése érdekében.” Felhívta a figyelmet arra, hogy az ukrajnai háború következményei már az egész világon, így Belgiumban is érzékelhetőek.

“Az infláció erőteljes emelkedése alááshatja gazdaságunkat és társadalmunkat is. Sok honfitársunknak nehéz dolga van a jelenlegi áremelkedés miatt, különösen az alacsony jövedelmű háztartásoknak, az egyszülős családoknak és a segélyből élőknek” – jelentette ki.

Fülöp király szerint meg kell akadályozni, hogy a lakosság különböző rétegei közötti szakadék tovább szélesedjen. Mint mondta, a befogadáson és szolidaritáson alapuló belga társadalmi modell képes felfogni a sokkokat, de a magas energiaköltségek nehéz döntéseket tesznek majd elkerülhetetlenné. Figyelmeztetett emellett “az önérdek motiválta tekintélyelvű rendszerek és reflexek újjáéledésének veszélyére”.

“Válaszoljunk ezekre a kihívásokra a demokráciába vetett rendíthetetlen hittel. Az összetartás és a befogadás előmozdításával. Ne ássuk tovább azokat az árkokat, amelyek elválaszthatnak minket”- hangoztatta.

A király szerint az Európai Unión belüli összefogás lehetővé tette a közös fellépést az egészségügy, a honvédelem, az energiaügyek és a menekültek befogadása terén. “Ez az összetartás alapvető fontosságú ahhoz, hogy a tagállamok közötti egyenlőtlenségek ne növekedjenek a lakosság kárára”- emelte ki.

Beszéde végén felszólította a belga népet, hogy ne veszítse szem elől a globális felmelegedés elleni küzdelemben meghatározott célokat. “Ebben a tekintetben azt remélem, hogy a fosszilis tüzelőanyagok árának emelkedése hozzájárul majd az energetikai átállás felgyorsításához”- jelentette ki.
