Szabó a Gödöllői Agrártudományi Egyetemen gépészmérnökként szerzett diplomát, majd rendőrtiszti tanulmányokat folytatott. Hivatásos szolgálatát 1995-től a Bács-Kiskun Megyei Rendőr-főkapitányság vizsgálati osztályának vizsgálójaként kezdte, majd 2008-tól a Bács-Kiskun Megyei Rendőr-főkapitányság gazdaságvédelmi osztályának vezetője volt. 2012 októberétől a Bács-Kiskun Megyei Rendőr-főkapitányság bűnügyi rendőrfőkapitány-helyettesi beosztását töltötte be.

Magyarország köztársasági elnöke 2019-ben a Magyar Érdemrend Lovagkeresztje Katonai Tagozata kitüntetést adományozta számára.

Új rendőrkapitánya van az I., a II., a VI. és a XIX. kerületnek
Szeptembertől új rendőrkapitánya van a fővárosi I., II., VI. és XIX. kerületnek – közölte a Budapesti Rendőr-főkapitányság (BRFK). A közlemény szerint az országos rendőr-főkapitány megbízta Kecskés Tamás ezredest a II. kerületi rendőrkapitányság vezetésével. Terdik Tamás, Budapest rendőrfőkapitánya pedig megbízta Márton Zoltán alezredest az I. kerületi, Plánk Róbert ezredest a VI. kerületi és Krammer György Zsolt ezredest a XIX. kerületi rendőrkapitányság vezetői feladatainak ellátásával.
