The Council adopted today restrictive measures against six individuals responsible for actions aimed at destabilising, undermining and threatening the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova. 

The Council adopted conclusions reaffirming Global Gateway as the EU’s worldwide strategy to mobilise investment and strengthen the EU’s partnerships.

The Council decided to conclude the agreement between the EU and Canada allowing Canadian companies to participate in the SAFE instrument.

President of the European Council, António Costa, and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, issued a joint statement on the agreement to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.

The Council today activated the national escape clause for Spain under the stability and growth pact.  The measure will help Spain transition to higher defence spending at national level while ensuring debt sustainability.

Ahead of negotiations with the European Parliament, the Council agreed its position on measures to expand the CBAM’s scope, help address its circumvention, and improve its overall efficacy in fighting carbon leakage.

Hosted by France as the rotating G7 presidency, the summit will bring together the leaders of the G7 countries, as well as the European Union and other invited countries to discuss pressing global issues, including international peace and security, multilateralism and the global economic outlook.The EU will be represented by President Costa and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
