The aim should be to ensure fair and transparent trade relations among food producers, suppliers and distributors. Fair trading should in turn help to prevent overproduction and food waste, they add.

Plenary sessions : Parliament approved the nomination of Rimantas Šadžius, Lithuania’s candidate member of the European Court of Auditors, on Tuesday by 498 votes to 120, with 53 abstentions. Mr Šadžius’ candidature was endorsed by the Budgetary Control Committee on 23 May. The final decision on this appointment will be taken by the EU Council of Ministers.

Après de Gaulle, Churchill ou bien l’ex-président tchèque Václav Klaus, Mirek Topolánek rejoint lui aussi les rangs des hommes d’État ayant lancé leur propre carrière littéraire.

Ceux qui connaissent l’âme frêle de l’ex-premier ministre tchèque – le seul qui a été destitué au parlement, en 2009 – ne s’étonneront guère du titre poétique qu’il avait choisi pour son premier livre : Il ne faut pas chier dans sa culotte (Hlavně se neposrat, Euromedia 2016).

Topolánek fut censé s’inspirer d’une citation que les Tchèques prêtent à Charles Bukowski : Le monde appartient à ceux qui ne chient pas dans leur culotte. Pour être objectifs, nous devons admettre que l’auteur du Journal d’un vieux dégueulasse ne fait point l’ombre à l’ex-premier ministre tchèque. Qui a été pris en photo sur la terrasse d’une résidence du chef du gouvernement italien en exercice (Berlusconi), exposant son « engin viril » en compagnie de jeunes filles dénudées ? Non, ce n’était pas Bukowski !

Par ailleurs, il n’est pas exagéré de dire que tout le monde s’intéresse au premier livre de Topolánek. Il n’y a pas que les critiques littéraires de renom qui l’analysent, mot par mot, mais aussi la Police tchèque. C’est son passage sur l’élection présidentielle de 2008, remportée au troisième tour d’une seule voix par Václav Klaus (et suite à laquelle les parlementaires avaient préféré changer le mode de scrutin en direct), qui séduit le plus les enquêteurs. Dans son style inimitable, notre auteur écrit : « Le but a été atteint. Je ne me sentais pas hyper bien… Pour conclure, je ne peux pas m’abstenir d’une petite phrase assassine : Milan, est-ce que tu vas rendre tout cet argent ? »

Les investigateurs tchèques voudraient dénicher qui est ce Milan. Ils parlent de la corruption… Permettez-moi de rire ! Ces flics ont-ils jamais entendu parler d’une métaphore ? Celui qui a un rien de sensibilité littéraire doit comprendre que cette phrase n’est qu’une allusion subtile à la gloire imméritée de Milan Kundera.

En quoi consiste la particularité du style de Mirek Topolánek ? Dans sa fibre poétique… en fait, les écrivains tchèques ne possèdent pas de fibre, mais bel et bien un « intestin poétique ». C’est à cause de son intestin (trop) poétique que l’auteur en question a fini par faire caca dans sa culotte… À la différence de Charles Bukowski ou de son héritier Topolánek, je n’ai pas le droit de sortir ce mot commençant par un « c » et qui n’est réservé qu’aux grands.

The OSCE Office in Yerevan, in close co-operation with the Armenian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MLSA), organized a roundtable discussion on the economic integration of migrants in Armenia on 3 June 2016.

The event brought together around thirty representatives from state institutions, including the MLSA, State Migration Service of Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Diaspora, the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Culture, as well as international organizations and civil society dealing with migration issues.

The increased number of migrants entering Armenia both to seek asylum and to find employment heightens the importance of sound migrant integration policies and legislation. Armenia is among the countries in Europe with the highest per capita ratio of refugees/asylum seekers from Syria, according to government figures. Identifying ways to meet the integration needs of migrants while giving value to their contribution can represent an opportunity to strengthen the existing economic integration mechanisms for the benefit of the entire Armenian economy and society.

“The discussion has provided national agencies with the opportunity to raise their issues of concern regarding the economic integration of migrants, outline their priorities and activities and explore areas of possible co-operation. The results of this event will also contribute to the revision of the policy concept for immigrant integration prepared by the state migration service, which has been submitted to other state bodies for consideration,” said David Gullette, the Democratization Programme Officer at the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

In addition to presenting their activities and discussing ways to improve their co-ordination, the participants underlined the importance of learning from more experienced countries. One of the key recommendations of the roundtable discussion was to approach the international community for support to organize a regional event for exchanging views on best practices in the area of the economic integration of migrants.

The discussion was organized upon the request of the State Employment Service of the Armenian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
