Implementation of Clinical Trials Regulation discussed at the meeting in Riga

On 16-17 June 2015 the meeting of the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) Clinical Trials Facilitation Group (CTFG) took place in Riga. The main focus was on the implementation of the Regulation (EU) No 536/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on Clinical Trials on Medicinal Products for Human Use which came into force in June 2014 and will be applied no sooner than 28 May 2016.

My Baltic Sea 2015 campaign calls for action to restore the Baltic Sea

Therefore, from 26 May to 28 June the My Baltic Sea 2015 campaign is being organised along the whole of the Latvian coastline. Itsaim is to educate society about problems relating to the maritime environment in order to better understand what harm is being done and how the Baltic Sea can be restored.

Draft generic statistical law being developed to modernise statistics in Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian (EECCA) countries

In Riga, a high-level seminar in statistics of Eastern European, Caucasian and Central Asian (EECCA) countries discussed the draft Generic Statistical Law. The law will strengthen the institutional independence of statistical offices of the EECCA countries, impartiality of official statistics, and conformity with the UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics and the European Statistics Code of Practice. Representatives from the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the European Free Trade Association and the national statistical institutions of EECCAA countries took part in the drafting of the Law.

Misappropriated Ukrainian state funds: Council extends asset freezes
