Depuis l'annonce du résultat des élections au Togo, le 26 avril dernier, des milliers de Togolais ont fui l'insécurité dans leur pays, certains harcelés par les forces de sécurité, pour se réfugier au Bénin et au Togo. Ils sont maintenant plus de 16 000 à avoir franchi les frontières du Togo, selon l'agence de l'ONU pour les réfugiés (HCR) qui redoutait déjà vendredi dernier un exode massif.

Il faudrait d'urgence 2,5 millions de dollars pour apporter une aide alimentaire à quelque 30 000 éleveurs nomades, victimes de la sécheresse à Djibouti après trois années consécutives de pluies erratiques, et 4 millions de dollars pour nourrir et soigner quelque 50 000 têtes de bétail, selon les agences de l'ONU pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture.

L'agence de l´ONU pour les réfugiés a lancé un appel de fonds d´un montant de 16,6 millions de dollars dans le but d´éviter une catastrophe humanitaire à la frontière entre le Tchad et le Soudan où plus de 65 000 réfugiés, pour la plupart des femmes et des enfants ayant fui les combats, vivent dans des conditions déplorables depuis des mois.
