The controversial Romanian lawyer Laura Vicol (PSD) has been elected head of the Legal Commission of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies by the new government. She has represented criminal gang leaders in recent years and repeatedly criticised the Anticorruption Directorate and the rule of law. The PSD has announced it will review the nomination next Monday.

In Hungary, a leaked speech by parliamentary speaker László Kövér (Fidesz) to top national intelligence officials is causing a commotion. In the speech Kövér states that the greatest risk to national security is that the political class is so divided in its view of the state and the nation, and that part of the political class - the opposition - wants to pursue self-destructive policies. The latter sees itself branded as an enemy of the state.

La situation sanitaire en Algérie commence à se détériorer. Les cas de contamination repartent à la hausse, après une accalmie qui n’a que très peu duré. Il s’agit sans nul doute d’une nouvelle vague, s’accordent à penser les spécialistes, qui redoutent aussi l’apparition de nouveaux variants.

Cette nouvelle flambée qui s’annonce a coïncidé avec l’apparition du variant Omicron, qui a déjà chamboulé les plans de bien des pays. En Algérie, aucun cas de contamination avec ce variant n’a été encore détecté pour le moment. C’est en tout cas ce qu’a annoncé le Pr Senhadji aujourd’hui, le 1er décembre 2021.

4e vague : l’Algérie est officiellement dedans

Selon le Professeur Kamel Senhadji, le président de l’Agence nationale de la sécurité sanitaire, il n’y a plus aucun doute à avoir, la flambée a déjà débuté. « La quatrième vague est officiellement entrée en Algérie », a-t-il déclaré aujourd’hui au média Echourouk News.

Le même intervenant a affirmé que « la situation sanitaire est désormais critique à cause à cause de la multiplication des cas de contamination ». Pour rappel, selon les chiffres officiels, l’Algérie s’approche de la barre des 200 cas quotidiens, mais il n’est un secret pour personne qu’il ne s’agit pas de chiffres exacts, mais simplement d’un indicateur de l’avancée de la maladie.

Le professeur souligne enfin que « le nombre de contaminations enregistrées quotidiennement pourraient dépasser les 600 cas ». Toutefois, et selon le même intervenant « aucun cas du variant Omicron n’a été enregistré en Algérie ». Il est cependant très probable que ce variant apparaisse dans les prochains jours dans le pays, a soutenu pour sa part le Dr Derrar directeur de l’Institut Pasteur Algérie.

The OSCE Mobile Training Team and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, jointly organized an interactive training course on the identification of foreign terrorist fighters at the borders for 22 first and second line border officers and the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 29 November to 1 December 2021 in Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the three-day training course, participants learned about international and regional legal frameworks, the effective use of Interpol databases, Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record Systems, travel document security as well as risk analysis and management in the identification of potential foreign terrorist fighters at borders. Participants were also taught how to detect behavioral indicators of FTFs and interviewing techniques.

“For several years now, Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing increased mixed migration flows. It is imperative that our border officers and inspectors for foreigners get more training to identify foreign terrorist fighters in these flows,” said Rade Kovač, Head of Sector for Operational Support of the BiH Service for Foreigners’ Affairs. Slobodan Krstić, Adviser to the Director of Border Police added that the course helped the trainees learn techniques that will enable them to quickly identify suspects in their daily duties in border security and immigration in a human rights and rule of law-compliant manner.

“It has been two years since we had the last in-person training on the phenomenon of returning FTFs at borders. A lot has changed in these two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but what has not changed is the threat that FTFs still pose on our society, especially in the OSCE region. Maybe the threat today is even bigger than in 2016, when the project was established”, said Florian Krejsa, Border Security and Management Unit of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department.

The Mobile Training Team was represented by national border officers from North Macedonia and Greece, as well as national and international experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, INTERPOL, FRONTEX, the OSCE and the United States of America. Experts shared their knowledge and expertise on the identification of Foreign Terrorist Fighters at the borders.

The OSCE Mobile Training Team was established by the Border Security and Management Unit of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department in 2016. It is composed of 17 selected border and counter-terrorism experts from OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation.  This is the twelfth deployment of the Mobile Training Team, organized by the Border Security and Management Unit of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department and the  OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Après une période de stabilité les français étaient plutôt sereins et avaient en quelque sorte oublié la présence d’un dangereux virus duquel ont doit se protéger. Dans un climat d’allègement des mesures préventives, une négligence s’est installé. On ne fait plus attention à la distanciation, on ne se désinfecte plus les mains régulièrement et on porte le masque pour la formalité. Résultat ? une cinquième vague.

C’est ainsi que La France, qui demeure la première destination des algériens que ce soit pour les étudiants, les travailleurs ou les touristes, n’a pas été épargnée d’une flambée des cas de contaminations qui a marquée l’Europe ces dernières semaines. Beaucoup de pays européens se sont vus dans une situation épidémique très inquiétante à cause de cette hausse considérable et soudaine, et ce, malgré les campagnes de vaccination.

Face à ce changement préoccupant, les responsables réagissent à l’instar du ministre de la Santé français, Olivier Véran, qui a affirmé que la situation sanitaire s’aggrave dans l’Hexagone. A titre d’exemple, 47 000 nouveaux cas de contaminations ont été recensées hier dans l’espace de 24h seulement.

Une moyenne plus élevée que jamais ?

La situation s’aggrave de plus en plus et le constat fait froid dans le dos notamment avec la moyenne journalière de contaminations qui, selon les experts, ne tardera pas à dépasser celle du pic de la troisième vague mortifère du Covid-19 que les français ont subie.

Véran a donc affirmé « cela continue de marquer une augmentation de la diffusion du virus sur le territoire national, avec une moyenne du nombre de contaminations par jour qui dépasse les 30.000 et qui pourrait être, si on poursuit cette dynamique, de plus de 60% par semaine, supérieure au pic de la 3e vague d’ici à la fin de la semaine ».

Le seul brin d’espoir, la vaccination

Dans le même sillage, le ministre français de la Santé a réitéré l’importance de se faire vacciner, étant la seule arme jusqu’au là pour éloigner le spectre de la mort et limiter le nombre de cas graves qui s’élève actuellement à 1700 patients en services de réanimation.

« La vaccination protège actuellement notre pays » a t-il rappelé avant de souligner que cette dernière est encore plus importante avec l’apparition du nouveau variant Omicron. La France a enregistré un premier cas atteint de ce nouveau variant sur l’Île de La Réunion, d’autres cas seront certainement mais difficilement identifiés car les symptômes et signes exacts de cette nouvelle souche demeurent un point d’interrogation.
