Séance plénière : Afin de lutter contre la résistance croissante des bactéries aux antibiotiques actuels, l'utilisation d'antimicrobiens existants devrait être limitée et de nouveaux produits devraient être élaborés, ont affirmé les députés jeudi. Lors du vote sur le projet de mise à jour de la législation de l'UE relative aux médicaments vétérinaires, ils ont demandé d'interdire le traitement antibiotique collectif et préventif des animaux et soutenu des mesures encourageant la recherche de nouveaux médicaments.

Plenary sessions : To fight the growing resistance of bacteria to today’s antibiotics, the use of existing antimicrobial drugs should be restricted, and new ones should be developed, said the European Parliament on Thursday. In a vote on draft plans to update an EU law on veterinary medicines, MEPs advocate banning collective and preventive antibiotic treatment of animals, and back measures to stimulate research into new medicines.

Séance plénière : Il n'y aurait plus d'obstacles à l'ouverture des négociations d'adhésion à l'UE avec l'ancienne République yougoslave de Macédoine si celle-ci réussit à sortir de l'impasse politique et à organiser rapidement des élections libres tout en se concentrant sur les réformes à conduire, estiment les députés dans une résolution votée jeudi. Dans une résolution séparée, les députés se félicitent des progrès constants du Monténégro en vue d'ouvrir des négociations d'adhésion à l'UE.

Séance plénière : Après avoir introduit des garanties pour les producteurs d'huile d'olive européens, les députés ont soutenu, ce jeudi, des mesures d'urgence visant à aider l'économie tunisienne grâce à l'importation en franchise de droits dans l'UE de 70.000 tonnes de son huile d'olive vierge en 2016-2017. Ces garanties incluent d'évaluer à mi-parcours les conséquences des mesures, de les mettre à jour si elles se révèlent nuisibles et de veiller à ce que les importations soient suivies du début à la fin.

Press release - MEPs back duty-free imports of Tunisian olive oil with EU producer safeguards

Plenary sessions : MEPs voted emergency measures into law on Thursday to help Tunisia’s economy by importing 70,000 tonnes of its virgin olive oil duty free in 2016/17, after adding safeguards for EU olive oil producers. These include a mid-term assessment of the effects of the measures, updating them if they turn out to be harmful, and ensuring that the imports are tracked from start to finish.
