President of the European Council Charles Michel presented the main results from the EU-Western Balkans summit held in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia.

The Council conclusions set the EU’s position for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to 1 November 2021. The conclusions emphasise the extreme urgency to step up the global response to address the climate emergency and underline the need for a just and fair climate transition across the world.

The EU-Western Balkans summit took place in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, on 6 October 2021. EU leaders agreed on the Brdo declaration, with which the Western Balkans partners have aligned themselves.

The Council adopted its position at first reading on the amendment to the Aarhus Regulation, which sets out how the EU guarantees its full compliance with the Aarhus Convention.
